Water has always been a precious commodity, and never more so than in the farm and ranch country where I grew up. Looking from the bridge, the river modeled for me as I took in the expanse of the bottomland with its rocks, little islands and run-off pools as it flowed past fields and pastures. That’s why when I thought of Willie Nelson’s song and the refrain “Whiskey River, don’t run dry,” I was closing in on a title for this painting. River, don't run dry. So much depends on you.
