La Romita's olive grove is planted on the hillside behind its ancient buildings, just beyond the clotheslines. Some of these trees are over 300 years old. The staff harvests the olives for olive oil and handmade soap, selling them to support the mission of the school. These moss-covered, twisted trunks were just begging to be painted.
